Grasping The Senses
Today I decided to focus my study of the Word in the book of
Ezekiel. If I may I would like to share
my observations with you. Ezekiel was
called to be the Lord’s voice to Israel during their captivity in Babylon. Because of Israel’s sin against God they were
removed from the land and taken captive by Nebuchanezzar. As I was reading, it became obvious to me
that the state of Israel during Ezekiel’s prophetic ministry is very much like
the state that we find our own nation in this crucial hour.
Like Israel our nation did not fall from God overnight. It has been a slow process that seems to be
accelerating exponentially. We have been
on a slippery slope since the sexual revolution that began in the 40’s and
50’s, followed by the removal of prayer in school during the 60’s. The spilling
of innocent blood began when the Supreme Court ruled that the banning of
abortions was unconstitutional in 1973. Then
in 1993 the Hawaii Supreme Court rule that the banning of same sex marriage was
unconstitutional started an avalanche that has changed the fabric of
Just like Israel we began to do things our own way which is
contrary to the instructions given to us and recorded in the Bible. Therefore our
sin against THE ALMIGHTY is great and because of that we too have gone into
captivity. The difference is this. We
were not removed and taken to the land of Babylon and to King Nebuchanezzer. No, we voted for Nebuchanezzer to rule over
us and our land has become Babylon.
Ezekiel’s message to Israel is a message that is so
appropriate for the people of God in America today. Ezekiel called the covenant
people of God to repent. Likewise, the
call for repentance is for those of us that are called by His Name. We are the ones that are called to be salt
and light. We are the ones called to
make this Nation a “shining city set upon a hill.” Yet, our salt has lost its savor and our
light has grown dim. We the Church of
Jesus Christ here in America should have been a force to be reckoned with. But no, we have compromised and slid down the
slippery slope ourselves.
Ezekiel’s message was directed to a demoralized remnant of
Judah. Once again the correlation
between Israel and America is staggering. The prophet’s primary message was meant
to instill in each individual their personal responsibility in the failure of
their nation. He stressed the importance
that each person must recognize their own grievous sin. Each individual contributes to the weight of
sin that brings judgment upon a nation. Our Nation, I believe has been under judgment
for some time now. The condition of our
Nation is due to the failure of every Christian to do what we were called to
do. We were called to let our light shine so brightly that it would give glory
to our Father who is in heaven. As a
corporate body, we have failed to do that! We in the body of Christ dare not point our
finger and blame another for the condition that our Nation is in. We must take full responsibility ourselves.
There is only ONE hope for this nation and that hope is for the people of God to walk away from their sin and return to HIM and HIS RIGHTEOUS WAYS. For HE and HE alone can heal this land.
Morality in this country is now being replaced by individual rights. In my opinion this nation of ours has three major sins that we must repent of or we will continue to be judged by the Almighty. The trinity of what I call the “sins of replacement” involves first the belief that the Church has replaced Israel. This sin is contrary to the scriptures and is immoral because it is not the truth… it is based on a lie. The Church cannot claim rights that truthfully belong to Israel or dismiss Israel saying that God has replaced Israel with the Church when He has not. God has said that He will bless those that bless Israel and curse those that curse Israel. We Christians need to stand with Israel and educate in love our brothers and sisters who believe the doctrine of Replacement Theology as being contrary to the Word of God, so that they do not bring curses upon themselves. We have a loving Father who longs to bless.
The second grievous replacement sin is that of abortion. We have replaced the morality of protecting life in the womb for the individual rights of the mother to abort her child. It is a sad commentary when the most dangerous place for a baby is in its Mother’s womb, and it is likewise a sad commentary when women are dangerously forced into abortion because there is a child in her womb. Again education is the key. We as Christians can not continue to keep silent, we must find acts of love to do what we can to rescue Mother and Child from this great atrocity. We have a loving Father who longs to comfort every Mother who grieves over the loss of her child. Let us help her find His loving arms.
The third sin of replacement is the fact that we in this nation are replacing the definition of marriage as a union between one man and one woman to be replaced and to include it to be a union between two individuals whether they are two males or two females. Gay marriage as of the date of this writing is recognized in 17 states. We are accused of hate crimes if we dare to stand against homosexuality. The truth is that it is hateful not to educate the homosexual community about the consequences of this sin. We must dare to love them enough to tell them the truth of what is contained in the Word of God. Homosexuality is not an alternative life style anymore than alcoholism or adultery is an alternative life style. It is sin. We have a loving Father who longs to embrace every repentant sinner including the homosexual. Pray for those that you know to be homosexual so they are able to receive the truth and love them enough to inform them of what the Word of God says.
As we look at all three sins we must recognize in each case morality has indeed been replaced with individual rights. These sins that I call “the trinity of replacement” speaks loud and clear as to what the root of the problem is…As a Nation we have replaced God and the religion of our forefathers who formed this great nation with the religion of “Liberalism”.
I recently received a newsletter
from a local Rabbi and within the contents of the letter, was an advertisement for
purchasing freeze dried food in preparation for national disasters related to
these end on days. Many commentators on T.V. and on internet sites are
also offering various sources where you can purchase food to stock pile.
A pastor here in Phoenix tells of being part of a conversation with two doctors
who were talking about the end of the world, and how they were storing up
food. These marketers are making mega dollars on advertising that is
geared to cause fear.
Everywhere you turn these days, people are fearful as to what is going to happen to them when the events that have been prophesied touch their lives. It amazes me that it seems as if the greatest fear seems to be, "how will I fill my stomach"? Because of this fear many people are stock piling food.
I cannot but help to ask the question. What good will it be to have your stomach full and your soul hungry when disaster strikes? What good will it be to have your stomach full, and your heart empty on the day that Jesus returns? Perhaps our fears should be redirected. Perhaps our fear should focus on whether or not we are ready for His return. How will you feel with your stomach full as he closes the door on you? Jesus stands today at the door of every heart and knocks waiting to be invited in. If you open the door of your heart to Him now, He will not close the door to you at His coming. Perhaps it would be wise to make sure that He has taken up residence in our hearts and that He has satisfied our spiritual hunger and nourished our souls. The infilling of the Holy Spirit is food that will last through eternity.
No matter how much food is stock piled, eventually it will run out, or someone else will kill you for it. Jesus said not to worry about what to eat or what to wear. He said our Father in heaven knows what we need, and He will provide it. If the Lord was able to feed the Hebrews for 40 years in the desert, I am confident that He will be able to feed me if the need arises. Therefore I am not stock piling food for the stomach. Rather I am stock piling the manna from heaven. As it is written, "Man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God." In preparation for His return, I am filling myself up on His Word. Jesus is the bread of life...be sure you get your fill.
